The great concert this Thursday (23) will feature the Orchestra of Teachers of the Festival conducted by Lígia Amadio, who currently runs the Minas Gerais Symphony; Presentation will be broadcast live on Youtube
This Thursday (23), the traditional Gala Night of the 20th Santa Catarina International Music Festival takes place, highlighting the presentation by Lígia Amadio, the first woman to conduct a professional orchestra in the country. Maestra will lead the Orquestra dos Professores do Femusc at the Grande Concerto, at 8:30 pm on SCAR, the festival’s main stage, with live broadcast on Youtube (youtube.com/femuscoficial).
The presentation, governed by Amadio, will be from Stravinsky’s Pulcinella suite. She currently leads the Minas Gerais Symphony (OSMG). Ligia Amadio also left her mark on the National Symphony of Rio de Janeiro and in international orchestras, when she governed the Philharmonics of Mendoza (Argentina), Bogotá (Colombia) and Montevideo (Uruguay).
The presentation of the great concert will also feature a harp orchestra, followed by the FEMUSC Jovem Philharmonic Orchestra. Professor Mario Ulloa, leader of the Femusc Guitar Orchestra, will present solo works, including “Ritmata” by Edino Krieger from Santa Catarina, and two works by Villa-Lobos.
Before the gala concert, at 7 pm, Femusc welcomes its sponsors, supporters and guests for a cocktail party at SCAR – Centro Cultural. The event takes place in thanks for the holding of the festival and has personalities from the musical and business environment, among others.
During the day’s schedule, there will also be the Piano Masters series, which starts at 6 pm, and will feature Latin American culture as a highlight. The program features a repertoire with “Allegro Constante”, by Bolivian Atiliano Auza, “Elegantíssima”, by Brazilian Ernesto Nazareth, and “Levante”, by Argentine Osvaldo Golijov.

The series Grandes Concertos e Momento Springmann, from Femusc 2025, are being broadcast daily live, at 7 pm, and at 8:30 pm, on the official YouTube channel (youtube.com/femcoficial). The concert videos will also be available on the platform after the event, expanding virtual access to the largest classical music festival-school in Latin America.
