The 22st Santa Catarina International Music Festival – FEMUSC 2027 – takes place from January 10 to 23, 2026 in Jaraguá do Sul, SC – Brazil.
FEMUSC 2027 SELECTION NOTICE
The 22nd Santa Catarina International Music Festival (FEMUSC 2027) will take place from January 10 to 23, 2027, in the city of Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina state, Brazil.
Courses offered, with a total of 350 spots:
Advanced and Intermediate Orchestral Program: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute/piccolo, oboe/English horn, clarinet/E-flat clarinet/bass clarinet, bassoon/contrabassoon, saxophone (all voices), French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba/euphonium, percussion, piano, harp, and classical guitar.
Opera and Classical Voice Program: Soprano/Coloratura, Mezzo-soprano, Contralto/Countertenor, Tenor, Baritone, and Bass.
String Quartet Program
Orchestral Conducting Program
Please note that the language used in these regulations is gender-neutral.
- REGISTRATION
1.1 Registration for participation in FEMUSC 2027 opens on July 10, 2026, at 12:00 PM (Brasília time) and closes on August 2, 2026, at 11:59 PM (Brasília time). Registration must be completed via the website www.femusc.com.br.
1.2 When registering, the candidate must provide personal and biographical information, a brief letter of intent, the email address of a professional musician acting as a reference, and a link to a publicly viewable recording lasting up to 5 (five) minutes, before finalizing the registration. A confirmation email will be sent once registration is complete.
1.3 The LIST OF SELECTED CANDIDATES will be published by August 17, 2026, on the www.femusc.com.br website (in a prominent location) and on the festival’s social media channels. Selected candidates will also be notified via the email address provided on the registration form. It is the candidate’s sole responsibility to check whether their name appears on the LIST OF SELECTED CANDIDATES.
1.4 Should vacancies remain for any instrument or program, FEMUSC will release a new list of selected candidates from the waiting list (second round) starting August 28, 2026. If necessary, additional lists of selected candidates from the waiting list will be issued as vacancies are filled.
2. REGISTRATION
2.1 FEMUSC is a project subsidized by the Brazilian Federal Government’s Culture Incentive Law (PRONAC 262811 – 22nd Santa Catarina International Music Festival). Upon confirming their registration, participants are entitled to the educational program—including access to high-level instructors—a meal plan covering three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), access to stages and production support for the educational concert schedule, and internal transportation between activities;
2.2 Only candidates listed on the List of Selected Participants should proceed with registration;
2.3 Selected candidates will receive instructions regarding the registration period and rules via email; this information will also be available on the Festival’s website and social media channels;
2.4 The registration period runs from August 17, 2026, to August 24, 2026. Candidates who fail to register by the end of this period will forfeit their spot, and the next candidate on the Waiting List will be called;
2.5 To complete registration, participants must return to the registration and enrollment area via the website www.femusc.com.br.
2.6 At the time of registration, the candidate must fill in the required information on the registration form, confirm they have read the “FEMUSC 2027 Code of Conduct,” and indicate their acceptance of said code.
2.7 Should a participant require confirmation of their selection—for instance, to seek sponsorship—a “Letter of Selection Confirmation for FEMUSC 2027” will be available for download within the registration form;
2.8 Registration for FEMUSC 2027 does not include transfers or direct transportation for participants. The cost of travel to and from FEMUSC is the participant’s responsibility. FEMUSC is responsible only for internal transportation along the route connecting the campus, accommodation, and internal/external performance venues; 2.9 Participants are responsible for other costs related to the upkeep and maintenance of their own musical instruments; such expenses may not be charged to the companies or organizations organizing FEMUSC.
2.10. All participants are responsible for the cost of their accommodation during the festival. FEMUSC offers the option of booking shared, low-cost accommodation; participants who choose this type of accommodation will be charged an Accommodation Usage Fee, subject to the conditions below:

2.10.1. After the proof of payment is submitted, the festival will confirm receipt of the fee within 48 business hours.
20.10.2. Participants who choose to arrange their own accommodation—opting out of the festival’s shared housing—will not be charged any registration fee.
2.11. In the event of a request to cancel participation in the festival after the accommodation fee has been paid, refunds will be issued in accordance with the following rules:
a) Cancellations made by October 10, 2026: a refund of 50% of the fee amount;
b) Cancellations made on or after October 11, 2026: no refund of the fee amount;
c) FEMUSC will issue the applicable fee refunds to withdrawing participants within 10 business days after the conclusion of the festival. Refunds will be made via PayPal or by bank deposit into a checking or savings account provided by the participant.
d) Once the cancellation is communicated, all of the participant’s activities will either be transferred to another participant or cancelled.
3. REGISTRATION/CHECK-IN
3.1 All participants must check in in person at the Jaraguá do Sul Cultural Center – SCAR Theater, located at Rua Jorge Czerniewicz 160, in the municipality of Jaraguá do Sul, SC, and must present a photo ID.
3.2 Check-in will be available from 10:00 AM on January 9, 2027, until 12:00 PM on January 10, 2027 (Brasília time). Participants who fail to register their presence during this period risk losing their spots and having all their scheduled activities reassigned. Any delays must be communicated to the organizers in advance.
4. EVENT ATTENDANCE AND ACTIVITIES
4.1 Participants must remain in Jaraguá do Sul until their full schedule has been completed. FEMUSC 2027 officially concludes at the end of the Closing Concert at 10:00 PM (Brasília time);
4.2 Participants who are absent from FEMUSC activities without prior authorization from the festival administration will have their enrollment cancelled and will not be eligible for a Certificate of Participation;
4.3 Participant attendance will be verified for all scheduled educational and artistic activities. Any inability to attend a class, concert, or other activity must be reported to the FEMUSC administration so that appropriate measures and adjustments can be made. Matters not covered herein will be handled by the administrative team;
4.4 Upon meeting the criteria for attendance, performance, and conduct, the participant will be entitled to a Certificate of Participation detailing the classes, instructors, projects, and total hours. The certificate will be sent electronically to the email address provided by the participant on their registration form within 5 business days after the festival ends;
4.5 It is the participant’s responsibility to provide a valid and correct email address for receiving the certificate.
5. MINORS
5.1 Participants under the age of 18, or those who turn 18 on or after January 10, 2027, must submit—via email at the time of registration confirmation—an authorization signed by a parent or guardian. This document must be either notarized or signed using the E-Gov digital signature system, granting the participant permission to register for and take part in all FEMUSC 2027 activities.
5.2 Failure to submit this authorization within the established timeframe will result in the cancellation of the minor participant’s registration, and their spot will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.
6. EDUCATIONAL AND ARTISTIC ACTIVITIES
6.1 Participants must attend all activities scheduled by FEMUSC; these may take place on the main stages at the SCAR Cultural Center or on alternative stages designated by the organizers;
6.2 The program is the sole responsibility of FEMUSC, and changes may occur without prior notice;
6.3 Faculty members may be replaced or added without prior notice and may also be authorized to temporarily step away from their educational duties, at FEMUSC’s discretion;
6.4 FEMUSC assumes no liability for consequences arising from any changes to the faculty.
7. USE OF COMMON AREAS
7.1 Participants may not invite individuals who have not been selected and enrolled in FEMUSC to attend activities—such as lessons, chamber music classes, and meals—without the express authorization of the organizers;
7.2 The facilities at SCAR, as well as other educational spaces designated for FEMUSC activities, are available exclusively to participants, faculty, and administrative staff. Participants may not bring unauthorized guests into these areas.
8. USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS AND RECORDINGS
8.1 Participation in FEMUSC implies the granting, free of charge, of rights regarding voice, sound, and image—which may be captured (in whole or in part, or as excerpts) by FEMUSC or by third parties acting on its behalf. FEMUSC may utilize this material at any time and for any purpose (without remuneration);
8.2 The captured image, sound, and video content will be used solely and exclusively for the production of audiovisual works; for screen projection (in private or public spaces); for radio, television, or streaming broadcasts of any kind, including advertising; and for inclusion in image archives for future editions;
8.3 The participant hereby authorizes the use of their name, artistic performances, images, and voice. Furthermore, the participant grants—free of charge—the economic rights to the works submitted, classes, presentations, concerts, and all material produced during the event. This grants permission for their use without time limits—including, but not limited to, photos, posters, films, and promotional spots—across any communication medium used by the FEMUSC organization for marketing campaigns. Such media include, but are not limited to, television, newspapers, magazines, billboards, and digital transmission channels (internet, YouTube, and social media), whether hosted independently or via a service provider; this authorization also includes the right to assign these rights to third parties.
9. ACCOMMODATION
9.1 Participants opting for the accommodation provided by FEMUSC must indicate this choice at the time of registration;
9.2. FEMUSC accommodation includes a mattress in a shared room, shared bathroom/changing facilities, a simple breakfast served on-site, and security and cleaning services;
9.3 The rules for staying in the accommodation are set out below:
a) Accommodation will be available starting at 2:00 PM (Brasília time) on January 9, 2027, and will close at 12:00 PM (Brasília time) on January 24, 2027.
b) Participants are required to bring their own bed linen and towels, including sheets (top and bottom), a pillow, and towels. Staying in the accommodation without using bed linen is not permitted;
c) Participants who turn 18 after FEMUSC activities have begun—and who are authorized to stay in the accommodation—will be housed in dormitories designated for minors, separate from adult participants.
d) Participants shall be held liable for major damage caused by vandalism or misuse of the accommodation facilities. In the event of proven material or non-material damage to FEMUSC or the accommodation, the PARTICIPANT is obliged to indemnify the injured parties in accordance with Article 186 of the Brazilian Civil Code. Furthermore, the FEMUSC Institute reserves the right to refuse future registrations from such participants for upcoming editions.
10. MEALS
10.1 FEMUSC 2027 participants are entitled to meals as follows:
a) The FEMUSC Restaurant will open exclusively to serve FEMUSC students, faculty, and organizing staff on January 9, 2027, at 6:00 PM (Brasília time) and will close on January 23, 2027, at 9:00 PM (Brasília time). Participants staying in shared accommodation will also be provided with breakfast on January 24, 2027.
b) Access to meals is granted upon presentation of the FEMUSC participant credential; access is prohibited for individuals without credentials.
11. GENERAL TERMS
11.1 Participants whose enrollment is cancelled during FEMUSC 2027 due to non-compliance with the rules established in these regulations shall not be entitled to receive a Certificate of Participation or a refund.
11.2 By registering and enrolling, the participant acknowledges that their personal data will be processed by the FEMUSC Institute for purposes including registration, selection, enrollment, pedagogical organization, institutional communication, certificate issuance, meals, accommodation (where applicable), internal transportation, security, financial reporting, auditing, compliance with legal obligations, and institutional promotion of the Festival, in accordance with applicable legislation. Data may be shared with service providers, operational partners, public agencies, the Ministry of Culture, sponsors, auditors, and technology platforms, strictly when necessary for the Festival’s purposes. Participants may request information regarding the processing of their data through FEMUSC’s official channel.
11.3 Matters not covered by these regulations shall be resolved by the FEMUSC Management and Organizing Committee.
11.4 In the event of doubts or disputes arising from translations of these regulations into other languages, the original Portuguese version shall prevail.
