Instrumental Classes – Teaching
Instrumental classes form the highest priority of FEMUSC’s Pedagogical Curriculum. Participants must bring studies and musical works at a high performance level and present them to masters of renown, experience, and knowledge. Scheduled between Monday and Friday, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
Classes are conducted in groups where each participant performs for professors in front of the entire class, which may be modified according to the preference of the professors.
Solos – Individual Presentations
Participants are invited to submit up to three works of their choice for solo instrument, without piano or orchestral accompaniment. “Concertos with orchestra”, “sonatas in partnership with piano”, or works requiring more than one instrumentalist will not be accepted. Works using electronic accompaniment will be considered, provided that participants supply their own sound equipment.
FEMUSC accepts traditional suggestions and works from all periods of concert music, and also encourages participants to include works representing their cultures and/or underrepresented creators.
The Coordination will select works to be included in the official programming of the event. There are no guarantees that the works submitted by participants will be selected for concerts.
Chamber Music – Small Group Presentations
Chamber Music is the cellula mater of musical art. The required interaction and the flexibility imposed by this musical modality empower musicians and elevate their artistic performance. Participants are invited to submit up to three works of their choice for groups of between 2 and 10 musicians.
FEMUSC accepts traditional suggestions and works from all periods of concert music, and also encourages participants to include works representing their cultures and/or underrepresented creators.
The Coordination will select works to be included in the official programming of the event. There are no guarantees that the works submitted by participants will be selected for concerts.
PIANISTS: will be informed by November 15th about the works they must prepare.
Symphonic Groups – Large Group Presentations
Large musical ensembles are a microcosm of society, representing collectivity, respect, teamwork, and mutual support. Participants will be selected according to their applications and recordings, and invited to participate in the following ensembles:
OSF – FEMUSC Symphony Orchestra
OPF – FEMUSC Professors Orchestra (***)
OOF – FEMUSC Opera Orchestra (**)
OSNI – Unidentified Symphony Orchestra
BSF – FEMUSC Symphonic Band (*)
Cameratas (*)
OVF – FEMUSC Guitar Orchestra (*)
In addition to these orchestral ensembles, participants may be invited to participate in chamber orchestral groups.

Social Concerts – Giving Back
Solo and chamber music works may be scheduled for locations of social interest, such as Hospitals, Shopping Centers, Nursing Homes, Community Centers, and Churches. The objective of these presentations is to bring musical art to people who do not have the possibility or even the interest to travel to the SCAR Cultural Center.
This is an opportunity for participants to develop their musical skills without the pressure of peers and professors around them, and also for a new audience that is unfamiliar with their art.
