The 20th Santa Catarina Music Festival promotes instrument classes for enthusiasts from the northern region of Santa Catarina
With the Femusc Jaraguá program, the Santa Catarina Music Festival reaffirms its commitment to musical training in the Jaraguá do Sul region. Students in the program choose to take classes in percussion, metals, wood (clarinet, bassoon, flute), cello, viola or violin.
The 19-year-old Sandriellen de Deus, from Jaragua, participates for the first time in Femusc this year, studying a clarinet with professor from Curitiba, Jonathan Augusto. Sandriellen got in touch with the instrument for the first time in the Music for All Project (MPT) of SCAR – Centro Cultural, stage of the main FEMUSC concerts. “The best part of it all is group knowledge. I had never participated before an orchestra and now I’ve met people from other states and even from other countries,” says the young woman.
Femusc Jaraguá was created in 2023 to create another way of relationship with the city, as “a gift from Femusc to the residents of Jaraguá do Sul”, says pedagogical coordinator Vera Possari.
Femusc Jaraguá students participate in the instrument classes in the morning and in the academic orchestras “Ricardo Feldens” and “Adélia Fischer” in the afternoon. At 17:00 this Saturday (18), the participants of the program perform together with the academic orchestras in the orchestral matinee, at the Grande Teatro da SCAR. The repertoire of the concert includes compositions by the German Ludwig van Beethoven and the Russian Ígor Stravinski.
In addition to Femusc Jaraguá, the festival offers specific musical training programs for children and adolescents. At Femusckinho, a musical holiday camp for children from 6 to 12 years old, the little ones have contact with the recorder, musicalization, choral singing, string instruments and body percussion. At Femusc Jovem, teenagers aged 13 to 18 have an intensive immersion in instruments, orchestral practice and public concerts.
