Femusc Jovem celebrates 10 years of free musical training for teenagers

The program for young musicians from 13 to 18 years old is part of the 20th Santa Catarina Music Festival (Femusc)

In 2025, Femusc Jovem, part of the Santa Catarina Music Festival, celebrates 10 years of history. Aimed at teenagers aged 13 to 18 with previous experience in music, the project offers an intensive immersion in instrumental learning and orchestral practice, with daily activities at Sesc Jaraguá do Sul (SC). The program also offers food, transport for external activities and teaching materials for the 80 students.

Femusc Jovem students are divided between practical classes of various instruments, including violin, double bass, cello and viola, in addition to wood, metals, symphonic percussion and body percussion. In the second week of the program, young people will have joint classes with students from the FEMUSC Intermediate Program and will hold didactic concerts open to the public..

“I want to continue studying violin forever!” says 18-year-old student Josiane Milbratz, who is in her final year of Femusc Jovem. Josiane is from Jaraguá do Sul and got to know the instrument at age 10, as a student at Femusckinho. Since then, she has not missed any edition of the festival, where she also took double bass classes, and prepared to take the violin for life.

The main performances of the Femusc Jovem Orchestra include the Family Concert and the Chamber Concert, at 10 am and 12 pm on January 18, at the Small Theater of SCAR, and a special participation in the Gala Concert, on January 23, in the Scar’s great theater. The program ends at the final concert, at 12:00 on January 25th, also at the Grande Teatro da SCAR.

Femusc Jovem is a space for the development of musical talents. “Many of our students start at Femusckinho, pass through Femusc Jovem, enter for large orchestras and return to the festival as teachers”, highlights Vera Lúcia Ferruzzi Possari, pedagogical coordinator. The teaching team has maestro Jorge Scheffer and renowned teachers from different instrumental specialties, ensuring the high quality of accessible music education.

Through the Culture Incentive Law (Rouanet Law), Ministry of Culture and the Federal Government, FEMUSC is sponsored by the companies WEG, Rede Itaú, Grupo Elian, BTG Pactual, Duas Rodas, Martinelli Advogados and Zanotti, and the support of the companies Agricopel, Auto Elite, Urbano Alimentos, WPA, UniSociesc and IFSC Santa Catarina – Campus Jaraguá do Sul – Centro – Santa Catarina.
