The series “Voices of Africa” receives the Kilimanjaro choir to interpret African compositions; Festival runs until January 25 in Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina
This Thursday (16), the Mozambican choir Kilimanjaro will make a presentation Lyrical singing special, at 19:00 on SCAR, main stage of FEMUSC during the twentieth edition. The repertoire will be by composers from the African continent, such as José Carlos Schwartz, Michel Barret and Estevão Felipe Chissano.
The Kilimanjaro Coral is formed by Yara da Conceição, Lourena Uamusse, Shayra Chaúque, Carla Cutana and Alfredo Matine, students from Maputo, Mozambique, who are for the first time in Jaraguá do Sul (SC). Over these two weeks, they are part of the FEMUSC’s opera and lyrical singing program. Tonight, they perform African songs like “A Soul is Like a Bird” and “Kutwanana Ka Vusikoti”.
The student Contralto Lourena Estela Uamusse also makes the solo “Crucifixus”, by musician Antonio Lotti. The work is part of the text “Crucifixus etiam pro nobis” (he was also crucified by us), an example of the sacred music of the Italian Baroque period.
Great Concerts in the Grand Theater
At 8:30 pm, the series Grande Concertos begins, with live broadcast on Femusc’s YouTube channel. The theme of the night will be Chamber Music II, with emphasis on the repertoire composed by the American pianist George Walker. Brazilian teacher Alexandre Dossin, who recorded the entire work of Walker on two CDs, interprets the compositions live.
In addition to George Walker’s hits, the concert includes the work Serenade for Guitar and Strings, by Malcom Arnold, performed by Italian professor Emanuele Segre and the string orchestra formed by FEMUSC students..
There will also be the presentation of a composition for Beethoven ropes, made by international professors who teach clarinet, horn, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, and double bass in the femusc.

Classical Composers at Femusc
On Wednesday night (15), the 20th Femusc presented classic compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven and Johann Sebastian Bach in the Piano Masters Momento Springmann series. the programming It also included MPB shows and lyrical singing recitals at SCAR – Centro Cultural, in Jaraguá do Sul.
