Ceremony took place this Sunday (12) with the presentation of classic works, African songs, MPB show and speeches by authorities; Festival runs until January 25
The opening of FEMUSC 2025 was marked by a ceremony that celebrated the 20th anniversary of the festival with tribute to the creator of Event, Alex Klein, to the students and the singer Elis Regina, who would have turned 80 in 2025.
The presentation began with the National Anthem, performed by Klein, in the oboe, and Rita Constanzi, on the harp. The night brought a special tribute to the students who participated in all editions of the festival, in addition to celebrating the unprecedented presence of Africans from Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe. The closing was on account of an exciting MPB show in honor of Elis Regina, with the festival’s teachers and award-winning singer Lívia Nestrovski.
During the speeches, conductor Alex Klein highlighted the importance of equality and opportunities as central values of the event. The director of Femusc, Monika Conrads, also spoke, in addition to the chairman of the Scar board, Luis Leigue, the mayor of Jaraguá do Sul, Jair Franzner, and Senator Ivete Silveira, wife of the then governor of Santa Catarina, Luiz Henrique da Silveira, responsible for creating the festival in 2006, alongside Klein.
“Without a doubt, the 20th FEMUSC came to shine and to make young students become teachers in the future, or who have their own light – that they shine with their musical instruments”, said Senator Ivete da Silveira. “This wonderful opening and this beautiful tribute to Elis Regina stirred the hearts of many people here.”
Jair Franzner, mayor of Jaraguá do Sul, highlighted the importance of FEMUSC for the city, especially due to opportunities for children. “Jaraguá do Sul is a receptive city and grateful to be able to represent this project, which has been here for 20 years with musicians from Brazil and from various parts of the world.
