Santa Catarina International Music Festival reaches its 20th edition, with opportunities for musicians of all levels. Applications open until September 1st

The Santa Catarina International Music Festival (Femusc), the largest classical music school festival in Latin America, is open for the 20th edition. Beginner and professional musicians have until September 1st to apply. Registration and all information are available on the official website: www.femusc.com.br. The event will be held in Jaraguá do Sul (SC), from January 12 to 25, 2025.

This year, FEMUSC will bring together more than 50 teachers from 10 different nationalities, including big names such as the conductor and orchestral teacher Ligia Amadio, the popular singing teacher Ligia Nestrovsky, the voice and opera teacher Guenko Gurchev, violinist Lucia Luque Coorreman, and cellist Johanne Perron, among others. In addition to the traditional classical music classes, the festival will resume its Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) programming, under the coordination of the pianist, conductor and arranger Marcelo Ghelfi.

For the 2025 edition, 340 places will be offered, distributed as follows:

• 244 vacancies for intermediate and advanced orchestral instrument workshops, covering violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, saxophone, percussion, piano, harp, classical guitar and orchestral regency;

• 32 vacancies for lyrical singing workshops, divided between soprano, mezzosoprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass;

• 40 vacancies for Brazilian popular music instrument workshops, including piano, drums, winds, guitar/guitar, bass, singing and accordion;

• 20 vacancies for rope quartets workshops, forming five quartets.

Interested parties should send a recording with a repertoire of free choice, lasting between five and ten minutes. For candidates of stringed instruments, it is necessary to include a movement of work not accompanied by Bach (suites, sonatas or partitas). The recording must be made available via Link, preferably on YouTube, along with personal data and a resume.

In addition, Femusc 2025 will offer 80 places for Femusckinho, which promotes initiation to musicalization and ensemble music for children from 6 to 12 years old. Another 80 vacancies will be available for Femusc Jovem, which offers instrumental classes and together for teenagers aged between 12 and 17. For local musicians and amateurs from the age of 17 who wish to participate in a non-professional environment, Femusc Jaraguá offers orchestral instrument workshops and the opportunity to play in orchestras. Registration for these courses will be open from November.
