Next Sunday, August 18, Brazilian musicians will have the opportunity to perform with the International Symphony Orchestra  of the BRICS in Moscow, under the direction of the conductor and violist Yuri Bashmet. The presentation takes place in the concert hall of the Zaryadye Park by the Moscow River. The repertoire of the event will include the “Abertura La Gazza Ladra” by Giacomo Rossini, the “Abertura Romeo e Juliet” by Peter Tchaikovsky, in addition to several opera arias. The orchestra brings together the main names from Russia, China and the BRICS+ countries and focuses on the implementation of musical projects of reference from the group’s countries.
The young Brazilians Jaimes de Odilia, bassist from Florianópolis, and Ramon Diego, a trumpeter from Fortaleza, were selected for the presentation. Both were forwarded through the Santa Catarina International Music Festival (Femusc), which celebrates its twentieth edition in 2025.
“It will be a transformative experience, I will have the opportunity to play with high-level musicians in a country that is a reference in classical music”, says Jaimes, a participant in the 2020 and 2023 editions of FEMUSC. “I’m especially happy because we’re going to play a lot of Tchaikovsky, the composer I most enjoy playing in orchestra playing Tchaikovsky in Moscow will be amazing.”

Ramon, who was at FEMUSC in 2014, shares the same enthusiasm. “I have a huge expectation to participate in this event with young musicians from different countries and cultures”, he says.

Registration for the 20th edition of FEMUSC, which will take place from January 12 to 25, 2025, is open until September 1st. Beginner and professional musicians from all over Brazil can register through the festival’s official website: www.femusc.com.br
For the 2025 edition, 340 places are available in several areas:
• 244 vacancies for intermediate and advanced orchestral instrument workshops, such as violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet and others.
• 32 vacancies for lyrical singing workshops in different categories.
• 40 vacancies for MPB instrument workshops, including piano, drums, and guitar/guitar.
• 20 vacancies for rope quartets workshops, forming 05 quartets.
Interested parties should send a recording of five to ten minutes, with a repertoire of free choice, and a movement from a work by Bach to candidates of stringed instruments. Recordings must be made available via the link, preferably on Youtube, and accompanied by personal data and a resume.
In addition to the regular vacancies, Femusc 2025 offers 80 places for Femusckinho (initiation to musicalization for children from 6 to 12 years old) and 80 places for Femusc Jovem (instrumental classes for young people aged 12 to 12 years old). 17 years old). Femusc Jaraguá is also available for local musicians and amateurs aged 17 or over, which offers opportunities in a non-professional environment.
