The country’s largest classical music school festival opens registration for the 2025 edition

Santa Catarina International Music Festival (Femusc) takes place from January 12th to 25th; Beginner and professional musicians can apply until September 1st; MPB programming returns in this edition

The Santa Catarina International Music Festival (Femusc) opens registration for the 20th edition of the event. The Registry  must be performed   until September 1st. Registration and all information are on the official website: www.femusc.com.br. The opportunity is for beginners and professional musicians. The event takes place in Jaraguá do Sul (SC), from January 12th to 25th.

FEMUSC is considered the largest classical music school festival in Latin America and this year it will bring more than 50 teachers from 10 different nationalities for classes and presentations. Among the highlights will be present in 2025, the conductor of orchestral regency teacher Ligia Amadio, the popular singing teacher, Ligia Nestrovsky, the voice and opera teacher Guenko Gurchev, the violin teacher Lucia Luque Coorreman, the cello teacher Johanne Perron, among others. This year, Femusc opens again the programming of MPB (Brazilian popular music) under the coordination of the pianist, conductor and arranger Marcelo Ghelfi.

For the 2025 edition, a total of 340 spaces will be available as follows:

  • 244 In the intermediate and advanced orchestral instrument workshops for the instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, saxophone, percussion, piano, harp, classical guitar and orchestral regency;
  • 32 vacancies in the lyrical singing workshops distributed in soprano, mezzosoprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass;
  • 40 vacancies in the Brazilian popular music instrument workshops distributed in piano, drums, winds, guitar/guitar, bass, singing and accordion
  • 20 places in the rope quartets workshops forming a total of 05 quartets;

To participate, interested parties must submit a recording, with a repertoire of free choice, from five to ten minutes long. Candidates for stringed instruments must also add a work movement not accompanied by Bach (suites, sonatas or partitas). The recording must be made available via link, preferably YouTube. To register, it is also necessary to include personal data and a resume.

FEMUSC will also offer, in the 2025 edition,  80 vacancies for Femusckinho, which involves initiation to musicalization and ensemble music for children from 6 to 12 years old. Also with 80 vacancies, Femusc Jovem offers classes  instrumental and together, and includes young adolescents aged between 12 and 17. For local musicians and amateurs aged 17 years or older,  Interested in participating in FEMUSC in a non-professional environment, there is also FEMUSC Jaraguá, which offers classes of orchestral instruments and the opportunity to play in orchestras. Those interested in these courses must register from November.
