One of the greatest singers in Brazilian music, Jane Duboc performed this Saturday, January 22, at the 17th edition of the FEMUSC International Festival with a special tribute to Elza Soares. In the repertoire, “Se Você Arrive” and “O Morro Não Tem Vez”, which were played amid projections of images of the singer who died last Thursday (20).
The show also highlighted Brazilian samba with songs such as Doralice, by João Gilberto, and Samba da Minha Terra, by Dorival Caymmi, in addition to compositions by Dona Ivone Lara, Tom Jobim and other Brazilian composers. The show was broadcast live and is available from Femusc’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/institutofemusc

Classical Music Concerts
This Saturday, the small theater of Scar also received Femusc students with songs by Heitor Villa-Lobos and Francisco Mignone, who were featured in the 1922 Modern Art Week, a landmark of national culture and one of the themes that the festival honors in this year’s edition.
The show began with a presentation by the lyrical singing student Ana Clara, interpreting Villa-Lobos’ “Canção de Amor”, by Villa-Lobos. Then, Fernanda Pimenta, also a singing student, played Francisco Mignone with the song “Dona Janaína”. “Sentimental Melody”, by Villa-Lobos, ended the night’s performance.
In the auditorium of Chamber Recitals, the composition of the song by George Friedrich Handel was attended by the Chilean baritone Luis Ramirez accompanied by two baroque violins, viola, cello and harpsichord.

about the festival
Considered one of the most important of its kind, the FEMUSC 2022 International Festival was created in 2006 at the initiative of Brazilian conductor Alex Klein. His proposal was to make a personal dream come true: to democratize, popularize and internationalize the learning of classical music in Brazil, through a pedagogical/professional festival.
The 17th edition of the FEMUSC International Festival takes place from January 16th to 29th, 2022. During the 14 days, more than 50 presentations will be held open to the public, including concerts of high international artistic level. This year the festival pays homage to the bicentennial of the independence of Brazil and the 22nd Modern Art Week.
