How donations to FEMUSC can transform lives

At each edition, the main music festival-Escola de Música in Latin America expands the training work with thousands of young people, in addition to moving the economy of Jaraguá do Sul, the event’s annual headquarters; individuals and legal entities can support

The FEMUSC (Santa Catarina International Music Festival), The largest school festival in Latin America announces the fundraising campaign to finance the qualification of musicians, professionals and beginners, who will participate in the event in January 2023. The event has been going on for 18 years. Since its launch in 2005, FEMUSC has trained more than ten thousand professionals.

The expectation is that in 2023 the festival will move R$ 5.1 million with reservations in the hotel chain, air tickets and commerce in the region. In the 20 days of the event, the demand for restaurants, bars and service providers in general increases. This year, FEMUSC will also be responsible for creating more than 150 direct jobs and 250 indirect jobs.

Examples of how FEMUSC impacts the lives of musicians is not lacking. One of them is from Jaragua, Ramon Thiago, from Jaragua, who has already participated in the festival, received a scholarship in Los Angeles, USA, did a doctorate in music and is now a university professor.

Designer Alessandra Piazera, who has always studied harp and participated in several editions of Femusc, was responsible for creating an instrument designed to capture sound waves and “show” sound for people with hearing impairment. The idea linked to accessibility came about as a result of the festival and was successfully tested in the last edition. Currently, Alessandra also works with teachers at Femusc.

Regarding the economy, the movement in commerce goes beyond the hotel and gastronomic network. For the merchant from Jaraguá do Sul, Gabriel Seifert, more people in circulation in the city guarantee the heating up of the local economy. “Regardless of the branch in commerce, we are already impacted, even if indirectly, he said.

The examples cited are the result of the financing that arrives annually at Femusc. The donation can be made by any individual or legal entity, recalls the executive director, Fenisio Pires Junior.

“The donation can be deducted from the amount due to income tax and the amount invested in FEMUSC is converted into benefits used so that we can always hold the best festival, with an impact on cultural life, industry and sales of products and services”, says Fenísio.

The donation made until December 31, 2022 is already valid for the IR declaration in 2023 for individuals. The funds donated in 2023, during the festival, go to the 2024 tax of the individual or the quarterly closing of the companies.
