FEMUSC em pauta

Femusckinho teaches classical music, educates and entertains children during school holidays

The Musical Vacation Camp, which is one of the highlights of FEMUSC, receives 80 children from 6 to 12 years old for workshops and recreation until January 25, in Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina. Vacancies for the course were filled in less than 24 hours

One of the highlights of the Santa Catarina Music Festival, Femusc,  It is Femusckinho, a program that promotes the first musical immersion of children from Jaraguá do Sul and region, in the north of Santa Catarina. Over the course of two weeks, the holiday camp offers recorder workshops, choral singing, musicalization and strings, in addition to scavenger hunts for children between 6 and 12 years old, providing learning and recreation at Sesc Jaraguá do Sul.

The femusckinho is one of the forms  that FEMUSC found to thank and repay Jaraguá do Sul for the entire structure, welcome and public that the city offers annually, receiving and honoring performances by musicians from all over the world.

“Through this project, FEMUSC seeks to repay this support, introducing the children of the city and the region to the universe of classical music, encouraging cultural and artistic training from an early age and leaving a lasting legacy for the local community”, explains the creator and artistic director of the festival, Maestro Alex Klein.

In less than 24 hours, the 80 seats made available for the 2025 edition were filled – a record time in the history of Femusckinho, a reflection of the growing popularity of the program among the Jaraguaense community. The 40 students from 6 to 8 years old  will learn recorder and musicalization, while the 40 from 9 to 12 years old choose from among the available string instruments.

All groups participate in choral singing and body percussion classes, in which the rhythm is worked through the body. “Body percussion offers several physical, emotional and cognitive benefits that are fundamental for the musician – coordination, concentration, creativity, expression -,  and children and young people have a lot of fun in class. course,  Vera Lucia Ferruzzi Possari.

At the age of 7, student Gustavo Georg Eggert is for the first time at Femusckinho. Inspired by his father, who is a conductor, Gustavo travels from Schroeder to Jaraguá do Sul every morning to accompany the recorder classes. In addition, he highlights percussion and choir classes, in which he learns musical technique in the midst of didactic games by professors Sebastião Ricardo Borba and Gilcene Fraga. “When I grow up, I want to keep playing the flute and trumpet. I also really want to learn other instruments like harp, violin and bassoon, he says, counting on the next few years of Femusc.

an impact program

Much more than a summer camp, the project inserts the children of Jaraguá do Sul into the musical universe. The pedagogical coordinator says: “The most beautiful thing about it all is to see, during the year, the seed that was planted at Femusckinho germinating in the city’s music schools”.

Created more than 15 years ago, the program shows robust results in the life of the population of Jaragua. “We have today music teachers who made the first femusckinhos, went to the Faculty of Music, they specialized, and today they are our co-workers, adds Vera Possari.

Musical Zoo and Femusckinho 2025

On the morning of Saturday, January 25th, the public will be invited once again to participate in the playful zoo musical activity. At that moment, FEMUSC teachers provide their instruments for exhibition –  like animals in the zoo –  so that the audience can come into direct contact with classical music. “Everyone can try and answer all the doubts about the orchestra instruments. It’s wonderful, a unique experience for many, and it’s not just for children: adults take the opportunity to discover and try that different instrument that arouses curiosity”, highlights Vera Possari, coordinator of Femusckinho.

Then, at 10 am, the Didactic Concert takes place, a presentation prepared especially for the children’s families  Femusckinho participants. Thus, after two weeks of learning and relaxing, they present at 12:00 the closing concert at the Grande Teatro da SCAR. The last presentation brings together all the classes and integrates all the modalities dynamically on the stage.
