In honor of the Bicentennial of Independence, the FEMUSC International Festival promotes next Thursday, 27/01, a gala night with a concert of the musical work “Abertura para a Independência do Brasil” composed by Dom Pedro Primeiro in 1820.
Emperor of Brazil and King of Portugal, Dom Pedro de Alcântara had musical training and played clarinet, bassoon and cello. He is also the author of other works, in addition to the anthem of independence that he also presented at the festival.
The concert “Abertura para a Independência do Brasil” will be played with replicas of old instruments so that the public knows the same sound as the composition time.
On the gala night there will also be compositions by Mozart and a special presentation by Femusckinho, a musical holiday camp for children between 6 and 12 years old that takes place together with Femusc. The objective is to awaken children to the universe of music.
The closing of the show will be done by the teachers of Brazilian popular music who also celebrate the 22nd Modern Art Week.
The Gala Night’s presentation will be broadcast live on the Femusc YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/institutofemusc
Great concerts this Tuesday, 25/01, brings one of the greatest geniuses of music: Johann Sebastian Bach
The Great Concert Series of the FEMUSC International Festival this Tuesday, January 25, at 8:30 pm, will present a special on Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750).
Among the highlights will be presented the concerts of Brandenburg nº 4 and nº 5. Considered as exponents of the music of the Baroque period, the concerts of Brandenburg are a collection of six pieces commissioned by Cristóvão Ludovico de Brandenburg-Schwedt and composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Cristóvão, a music collector, requested the work after hearing Bach playing on the property of a rival prince.
The concerts will be presented by teachers of the Festival’s old music course, among them Fernando Cordella, one of the main harpsichordists of his generation, recognized as the best in Latin America; Marc Destrubé, of the Baroque violin and the harpsichordist Béatrice Martin, who played at the opening of the new Filarmonie de Paris, among others.
about bach
Born into a family with a long musical tradition, the Baroque composer, organist, violinist and harpsichordist from an early age showed talent and soon became a complete musician. Bach composed more than 1,100 plays, including oratories, concerts, tocatas, cantatas, passions, all of them sacred songs. His ability to the organ and the harpsichord was widely recognized as he lived and became legendary, being considered the greatest virtuoso of his time.
about FEMUSC
Considered one of the most important of its kind, the FEMUSC 2022 International Festival was created in 2006 at the initiative of Brazilian conductor Alex Klein. His proposal was to make a personal dream come true: to democratize, popularize and internationalize the learning of classical music in Brazil, through a pedagogical/professional festival.
The 17th edition of the FEMUSC International Festival takes place from January 16th to 29th, 2022. During the 14 days, more than 50 presentations will be held open to the public, including concerts of high international artistic level. This year the festival pays homage to the bicentennial of the independence of Brazil and the 22nd Modern Art Week.
