CAPS-AD patients received the festival students who played theme songs from films such as Star Wars, Addams Family, Grease and Titanic
This Friday (24), the Santa Catarina International Music Festival took, for the first time, a presentation of classical music to the patients of CAPS – Psychosocial Care Center – Alcohol and Drugs of Jaraguá do Sul (SC). The initiative was part of FEMUSC’s social concerts, which seek to bring classical music closer to the community throughout the day, serving different audiences in the city.
The orchestra with nine saxophonists from different countries was conducted by Professor Dilson Florêncio. The musicians performed works by J. S. Bach and a collection of film soundtracks, such as the theme songs of Star Wars, the Addams family, Grease and Titanic.
One of the patients who attended the presentation says she had never had the opportunity to see an orchestra before. “Classic music has relaxed me a lot. I even recorded it to share the moment with my sister, my friends and my daughter,” he reported.
Another CAPS patient stated: “They were playing the music and we felt the urge to cry and sing along. Here at CAPS, we deal with very difficult life stories and bring music, in a way, cure”.
The center’s coordinator, Roseli Bamberg, highlighted the importance of taking music to environments of social vulnerability. “You can see the love that musicians have for what they do. When we do these things with love, no matter how difficult they are, others see beauty. And I see music as one of the great arts of the human being”, he said. “We only expected one or two musicians, so receiving so many fantastic talents is a great pride for the service and for Jaraguá do Sul”.
Femusc’s social concerts connect the community with classical music through presentations in everyday places, such as hospitals, malls, nursing homes and factories.
