Considered one of the main oboists in the world, for more than four decades he has presented himself on six continents as a soloist and conductor, also directing master classes and playing with renowned chamber ensembles.
He is currently the main oboe of the London Chamber Orchestra and the World Orchestra for Peace, and previously of the London Philharmonic and Philharmonic Orchestras. He recorded twenty-six solo CDs, including the concert by Richard Strauss, which the Penguin Guide named the best version, and was Gabriel’s original oboe in the film The Mission.
He was music director at Danish Chamber Players and Swedish Chamber Winds. He is a professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, an honorary associate of the Royal Academy of Music and an artist at UNESCO for Peace. He plays an XM oboe from Howarth of London.
