Biografia

Fernando Dissenha has been a solo trumpeter with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP) since 1997, and has toured Brazil, Latin America, the United States, Europe and Asia. Dissenha participated in several recordings by Osesp for the labels Bis, Naxos and Chandos. His first solo CD – “Carambola” – was described by the International Trumpet Guild as “a wonderful album”. As a musician by Câmara, Fernando Dissenha is a member of the São Paulo Metal Quintet, which released the CD “Brazilian Music for Quintet de Metais”. With this group, Dissenha performed at the Lake Luzerne Festival (USA) and at the Campos do Jordão, Curitiba, Goiânia and Maringá festivals. Mr. Dissenha was a soloist for the New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall and winner of the Juilliards Trumpet Concert Competition, performing the Hummel Concert.

He also played in New York as a guest instrumentalist for the American Brass Quintet. He presented himself as a soloist with the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra and several Brazilian orchestras. For ten years he was a trumpeter in the Paraná Symphony Orchestra. Fernando Dissenha is a PhD from the University of São Paulo and a master’s degree from the Juilliard School, where he was a student of Chris Gekker and Mark Gould. He currently works in the faculty of the Academy of Music at Osesp. He was invited to give master classes at the University of Maryland, Lake Luzerne (USA), and in Medellín (Colombia). Dissenha was invited to teach at several Brazilian festivals such as Campos do Jordão, Jaraguá do Sul (Femusc), Curitiba, Londrina and Gramado.

For ten years Issenha taught at Faculdade Cantareira and worked as a trumpet teacher at the School of Music and Fine Arts of Paraná (Embap/Unespar), the São Paulo State School of Music (EMESP) and the Tatuí Conservatory. Fernando Dissenha is the author of the trumpet section, released by the publisher Irmãos Vitale. Fernando Dissinha studied with Edgar Batista dos Santos (São Paulo), Antônio Aparício Guimarães (Curitiba) and Pedro Vital, at the Rotary International Band, in São José dos Pinhais, his hometown. Fernando Dissenha is an artist from Roriz and plays with B&s trumpets.
