Biografia

Ole Böhn followed an extensive career as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher. Since its debut in 1969, it has played regularly with orchestras in Europe, the United States and South America. In 1983, he traveled through the People’s Republic of China.

He collaborated with conductors such as Moshe Atzmon, Herbert Blomstedt, James Conlon, Lukas Foss, Michael Giehlen, Marek Janowski, Franz Welser-Möst and Oliver Knussen, and He is a frequent artist on radio and television around the world. In 1990, he gave the world premiere of the Elliott Carter Concerto with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and since then has performed this concert, which was written for him and dedicated to him, with the main orchestras of Europe and the United States.

The repertoire of Ole Böhn goes from the Baroque to the present day and is considered one of the main interpreters of contemporary American music in Scandinavia. He taught at the Danish Royal Conservatory and the Oslo Conservatory of Music; He taught at the Eastman School of Music, Hart School of Music, at the Norwegian State Academy of Music, at the Gedai Institute in Tokyo, and at the University of Northern Illinois; And for several years he led summer classes at the music workshop in Curitiba, Brazil.

Ole Böhn studied with Louise Behrend at the Juilliard School of Music, with Ernst Glaser in Oslo, Henry Holst at the Danish Royal Conservatory of Music and with Max Rostal at Statliche Hochschule für Musik in Cologne.

He is the Concertino of the Norwegian National Opera and has already held a similar position with the Copenhagen Symphony Orchestra, and worked for shorter periods as an Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Teatro del Teatro. Fenice in Venice, Municipal Theatro, Rio de Janeiro, Residentie Orchestra in Den Haag, Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, Beethoven Orchestra, Bonn and Hamburg State Opera. Ole Böhn wears a violin made in 1766 by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini. It was acquired for its use by the Nordea Bank of Norway. He joined the Sydney Conservatory of Music as an associate professor in 2009.
