The 20th Santa Catarina International Music Festival – FEMUSC 2025 – takes place from January 12th to 25th, 2025 in Jaraguá do Sul, SC - Brazil.

Course offering, with a total of 350 places:

Advanced and Intermediate Orchestral Program:

Instruments: violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion, piano, harp, and classical guitar.

Opera and Lyric Singing Program:

Voices: Soprano, Mezzo, Alto, Tenor, Baritone and Bass.

String Quartets Program

Program in Orchestral Conducting

Brazilian Popular Music Program:

Instruments: popular piano, popular drums/percussion, popular electric/acoustic bass, popular saxophone/flute, popular singing, popular guitar/guitar and accordion.

It should be noted that the language of this regulation is written in a neutral gender.

1. REGISTRATION

1.1 Registration for participation in FEMUSC 2025 will be open from August 1st, at 12:00 pm (BrasĂ­lia time) and close on September 1st, 2024 at 11:59 pm (BrasĂ­lia time). Registration is via the website www.femusc.com.br.

1.2 Before registering, read the instructions in the “HOW TO REGISTRATION” submenu carefully.

1.3 When registering, the candidate must enter personal and biographical information, a brief letter of intent, the email of a recommending professional musician and the link to a recording of at least 5 (five) minutes with public viewing and complete the registration . An email will be sent with confirmation of completed registration;

1.4 THE LIST OF THOSE SELECTED IN THE FIRST CALL will be published on September 6, 2024, on the website www.femusc.com.br, in a prominent place and on social media. Selected candidates will also be notified by email, indicating the application form. It is the candidate’s sole responsibility to check whether their name is on the LIST OF THOSE SELECTED TO ENROLL, as per instructions in item 2;

1.5 If there are remaining vacancies for an instrument/program, FEMUSC will call the waiting list and, if necessary, open a new SELECTION for the SECOND CALL, starting on September 18, 2024. THE THIRD CALL is scheduled to take place on from September 27th. New calls will be made as vacancies fill.

2. REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION

2.1 FEMUSC is a project subsidized by the Culture Incentive Law of the Federal Government of Brazil (PRONAC- 244309). Participants are entitled to a school plan, including access to high-level teachers and teaching materials, a meal plan covering three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner), access to the stage and production throughout their educational schedule of concerts and internal transport between activities;

2.2 Only candidates indicated on the Selected List must register;

2.3 Selected candidates will receive guidance on the registration period and rules via email, which will also be available on the website;

2.4 The registration period will run from September 6, 2024 to September 16, 2024. After this period, the candidate who does not register will lose the right to a place, and the next candidate on the Waiting List will be called;

2.5 To register, participants must access the FEMUSC registration system through the website www.femusc.com.br or https://inscricao.femusc.com.br/femusc/2025/femusc/cadpreusuario.csp;

2.6 Upon registration, the candidate must read the regulations and accept the rules, as well as fill in the information requested on the registration form. Enrollments will only be confirmed upon acceptance and agreement with all terms of the Enrollment Regulations, ensuring adherence;

2.7 If the participant needs confirmation of their selection – to search for sponsorships or others -, the SPONSORSHIP LETTER will be available for download on the registration form;

2.8 Selected participants will be charged a fee of R$750.00, to be paid during the registration period, for access to simple accommodation during their stay at FEMUSC 2025, according to the payment options below:

RULES FOR REGISTRATION

a) If the candidate’s name is on the LIST OF CONFIRMED FOR REGISTRATION published on the official FEMUSC website, on September 6, 2024, the candidate must follow and observe the instructions and deadlines established to do so. Selected candidates who do not register by 09/15/2024 will be automatically disqualified, giving the opportunity to another candidate on the Waiting List;

b) Enrollments will only be accepted upon acceptance and agreement with all the terms of the Enrollment Regulations, which will be available in the enrollment system itself upon completion, valid as an adhesion contract;

c) Registration for FEMUSC 2025 does not include transfers and direct transportation for participants. The cost of transportation to FEMUSC and return is the responsibility of the participant. FEMUSC is only responsible for internal transportation, the route CAMPUS-HOSTING-INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PRESENTATIONS;

d) Other expenses related to the cost and maintenance of their own musical instruments are the responsibility of the participants, and such expenses cannot be charged to the companies/bodies organizing FEMUSC.

3. CANCELLATION AND FEE REFUND

3.1 In cases of request to cancel participation in the festival, after payment of the fee, the refund will be provided in accordance with the rules below:

a) Cancellations made up to 10/05/2024: refund of 50% of the fee;

b) Cancellations made or withdrawals made after 10/05/2024 will not be entitled to a refund of the fee;

c) FEMUSC will refund the percentage of fee amounts to those who withdrew within 10 working days, counting from the end of the festival. The refund will be via bank deposit into a current or savings account, to be provided by the withdrawal.

4. ATTENDANCE REGISTRATION

4.1 All participants must present themselves in person, carrying a photo ID, and the same information must be entered on their registration form. Participants without identification documents will not be able to join FEMUSC’s scheduled activities;

4.2 From January 11, 2025 at 10:00 am (BrasĂ­lia time) it will be possible to start recording attendance. Participants who are not registered by 12:00 pm on January 12, 2025, will have their participation canceled, without refund of the registration fee.

5. STAY AT THE EVENT AND ACTIVITIES

5.1 Participants must remain in Jaraguá do Sul until their schedule is fully completed. FEMUSC 2025 officially ends at the end of the Closing Concert at 10 pm (Brasília time);

5.2 Participants who are absent from FEMUSC activities without prior authorization from the FEMUSC administration will have their registrations cancelled, and will not be entitled to a Certificate of Participation;

5.3 The presence of participants in all planned educational and artistic activities will be controlled. In cases of conflicting schedules or being unable to attend a class, concert, or other activity, the FEMUSC administration must be notified to take the necessary measures and adjustments. Omitted cases will be handled by the administrative team;

5.4 Fulfilling the attendance, performance and conduct criteria, the participant will be entitled to a Certificate of Participation with details of classes, teachers, projects and workload. The Certificate will be sent in electronic format, to the participant’s email address entered on their registration form.

6. MINORS

6.1 Participants under 18 years of age or who turn 18 years of age on or after January 12, 2025, depending on the start of their course, must send by email an authorization signed and notarized by one of their parents or responsible person, giving permission to the participant to enroll and participate in all FEMUSC 2025 activities;

6.2 The authorization must be inserted as a digital file, in the FEMUSC registration system itself;

6.3 Failure to include this authorization during the period established for payment of the registration fee will result in the cancellation of the minor participant’s registration and their place will be given to the next person on the waiting list;

6.4 The original authorization document must be brought by the participant and presented to the FEMUSC administration by January 12, 2025, as the course begins. Participants who do not bring this original authorization with them will not be able to register for FEMUSC activities, and will have their registration canceled, without a refund of the fee.

7. PEDAGOGICAL AND ARTISTIC ACTIVITIES

7.1 The participant must attend all rehearsals and concerts, orchestral or chamber music, as well as instrument classes and master classes scheduled by FEMUSC, which may take place on the main stages located at the SCAR Cultural Center or on alternative stages to be defined by the organization;

7.2 Participants must study their parts in advance and come prepared for all rehearsals, concerts and classes that involve their presence and participation. Therefore, it will be up to the participant to commit to their artistic and instrumental performance, as required by the FEMUSC faculty;

7.3 The participant must live with their colleagues and teachers in an atmosphere of harmony and mutual support;

7.4 The schedule is the sole responsibility of FEMUSC and changes may occur without prior notice;

7.5 Teachers may be excluded or added without prior notice, as well as being authorized to temporarily withdraw from their teaching activities, at the discretion of FEMUSC;

7.6 FEMUSC is not responsible for the consequences arising from any changes.

8. USE OF COMMON SPACES

8.1 No participant may invite people who are not selected and registered to participate in FEMUSC; such as classes, chamber music classes, concerts and meals, without the express authorization of the organization;

8.2 The withdrawal of a ticket by a person to attend a concert constitutes solely an authorization from FEMUSC for that person to attend that specific performance, and does not constitute authorization to attend classrooms, backstage at presentations, etc. To this end, if necessary, the interested party must contact the FEMUSC administration to obtain the appropriate authorization;

8.3 The physical facilities of SCAR and other pedagogical spaces planned for FEMUSC activities will only be available to participants, teachers and administration. No participant may bring a guest to these spaces who is not authorized;

8.4 Participants who do not respect these rules or who adopt undue and undesirable conduct for the smooth running of the event may be removed from FEMUSC activities, as determined by prior analysis by the administrative team. Consequently, the participant will have their registration canceled, without refund of the fee, as well as the Certificate of Participation will not be issued;

8.5 The physical spaces intended for classes must be respected for this purpose, without being used for sleeping and/or recreation. Furthermore, participants will not be allowed access to the administrative areas of the event venues.

9. USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS AND RECORDINGS

9.1 Participation in FEMUSC implies the free transfer of rights to voice, sound and image, which may be captured (from their extracts, excerpts or parts) by FEMUSC or by third parties, in its name, and FEMUSC may dispose of it at any time, giving any use (unpaid);

9.2 The image, sound and video content captured will be linked, solely and exclusively, into materials for the production of audiovisual works; display through screen projection, whether in private or public spaces; use for radio and/or television transmission of any kind (open television or pay television, whether through UHF, VHF, cable, MMDS and satellite signals); use in different formats; broadcast as advertisements or as cinematographic films of any size, CD, CD-ROM CD-I (interactive compact-disc), home video, DAT (digital audio tape), DVD (digital video disc) and computer graphics supports in general; use for image banks for future editions;

9.3 The participant, from now on, authorizes the use of his name, artistic presentations, images and voice, as well as freely assigning the copyright over the works sent, classes, presentations, concerts, in short, in all material produced during the event, allowing the use of these, without any time limitation, for example, but not limited to photos, posters, films, spots, in any means of communication used by the FEMUSC organization for its Marketing campaigns, including, but not limited to television media, newspapers, magazines, billboards and/or digital transmission media (internet, YouTube, among others), with or without a provider, including assigning these rights to third parties.

10. ACCOMMODATION

10.1 Participants who choose accommodation provided by FEMUSC must indicate this at the time of registration;

10.2. FEMUSC accommodation includes a mattress in a common room, a shared bathroom/changing room, a simple breakfast served in the accommodation, security and cleaning services;

10.3 Participants who choose this accommodation must respect the rules of the space. Furthermore, in cases of non-compliance with these rules, participants will be warned and will not be allowed to stay in the accommodation on other days. Omitted cases will be dealt with by the administrative team, which may even result in the cancellation of the participant’s registration, without refunding the fee or issuing a Certificate of Participation;

10.4 The rules for staying in the accommodation are presented below:

a) Accommodation will be available from 2pm (BrasĂ­lia time) on January 11, 2025 and closed at 12pm (BrasĂ­lia time) on January 26, 2025, depending on the end of the courses;   

b) Participants must bring their own bed and bath items with them, including sheets, sub-sheets, pillows and towels. During your stay in the accommodation, you will not be allowed to stay without the use of bed linen;

c) Quiet hours in the accommodation will be from 10pm (BrasĂ­lia time) to 6:00am (BrasĂ­lia time). During this period the lights will remain off. Outside of these quiet hours, it is permitted to play musical instruments in the accommodation;

d) Entry to the accommodation will only be permitted until 1 am (BrasĂ­lia time). Entry after this time will be prohibited, regardless of the presence or absence of a guard or security guard at the entrance;

e) Participants who are under 18 must be present in their dormitory until 11pm (BrasĂ­lia time);

f) Participants must maintain common and reasonable standards of hygiene and personal organization;

g) Participants must respect the belongings of their colleagues, and avoid any contact with them;

h) Participants must respect and support a healthy coexistence atmosphere among all participants staying in the accommodation;

i) The presence of males in female accommodation will not be permitted, and vice versa;

j) People who are not authorized to stay in the accommodation will not be allowed to stay;

k) Pets are prohibited from staying in the dormitories and common areas of the accommodation;

l) The consumption of alcoholic beverages or the use of other illicit drugs in accommodation is expressly prohibited;

m) Participants who are visibly drunk or under the influence of drugs will not be allowed to stay in the accommodation;

n) FEMUSC is not responsible for valuable belongings or any damage caused to personal objects while staying in the accommodation. Therefore, it is recommended that participants store it safely or even carry it with them;

o) Participants who turn 18 years of age after the start of FEMUSC activities and who are authorized to stay in the accommodation will be kept in dormitories for minors, separate from their older colleagues;

p) Participants under 18 years of age will not have access to the dormitories of older participants. Visits from family members will only be permitted under the knowledge of the person responsible for the accommodation;

q) Major damages caused by vandalism or misuse of accommodation facilities will be the responsibility of the participant. In situations that are evidence of material or non-material damage to FEMUSC or the Accommodation, the PARTICIPANT will be obliged to compensate, under the terms of article 186 of the Brazilian Civil Code, the injured parties. Furthermore, the FEMUSC Institute reserves the right to no longer accept applications from such participants in future editions;

r) It will not be permitted to travel in the accommodation between the dormitories and the locker room, without clothing, or wearing bathing suits, towels, underwear, as well as nightwear.

11. FOOD

11.1 FEMUSC 2025 participants will be entitled to food, as follows:

a) The FEMUSC Restaurant will open exclusively to serve students, teachers and the FEMUSC organization on January 11, 2025, at 6 pm (BrasĂ­lia time) (for dinner) and will close on January 25, 2025, at 8 pm ( BrasĂ­lia time) (at dinner);

b) Access to food will be granted upon presentation of the FEMUSC participant identification badge, being prohibited for non-accredited people;

c) Avoid wasting food.

12. GENERAL TERMS

12.1 Participants who, during FEMUSC 2025, have their registration canceled due to non-compliance with the rules established in this regulation will not be entitled to receive their Certificate of Participation, being disconnected from the entire event program;

12.2 Participants found in possession, use or under the influence of illicit substances prohibited by Brazilian law will be immediately disconnected from FEMUSC and handed over to the authorities. Foreign participants may be extradited from Brazil;

12.3 Cases omitted from this regulation will be resolved by the Management and Organizing Committee of FEMUSC;

12.4 In case of doubts or disputes arising from translations of this regulation into other languages, the original version in Portuguese will be used.
